Thank you for the very complete answer, Soundguy. I appreciate it. Bought some Supertech 80W 90 GL-5 at Walmart yesterday. Dealer said 80W 90 GL-5 would be good.
QUOTE=Soundguy;2362938]used oil anylysis and supertech is the walmart branded oil.. it's packaged by warren unilube.. a maker of many, many, many store and hose brand oils. it's not known as superior oil.. but it ain't gritty sludge either.. it's economical, and meets manufacturer specs as well as api grading classifications, and if used in accordance with regular change intervals.. it's fine.
if i was using supertech I'd never do a uoa.. the uoa would cost as much as the oil change

.. better to just do the oil change.
uoa comes in handy if you have oil capable of doing extended drains, or if you want a baseline to see where something is at.. like looking at wear metals in an engine.
I use a premium ful synthetic oil in my diesel truck ..that's the kind of thing you do a uoa on.. where you are using 3+ gallons of il in a crankcase, and are paying near 100$ for the oil. at that point a 18$ uoa isn't a bad deal if you can see that you are able to stretch a change interval from say.. 3000 to 10000 miles.... on supertech oil.. ya just change it at 3000
