hi, does anyone know when/if mf is going to change to a shift on the fly hi-low hydrostat range selector?

Hey, I do that all the time with my 2310... with care, of course.

As long as you're not pushing it hard (putting a load on it), it'll clunk into hi or low range pretty cleanly; more smoothly going from low to hi, naturally. As long as I don't encounter that "mashing/grinding" feeling, I go for it.

You mean like the Cub/Yanmar tractors do? I've driven one of those, not sure how it works, almost seems like it limits the hydro plate in low range. I would rather have 2 actual ranges than 1 with a limiter.
Not saying thats how the Cub was, that's just the way it seemed.
I mean it was nice to drive, I just thought of someone shifting that thing under a load. That could be bad.

well, now that i actually own one, i see that its not an issue :)

traded in my old mf2135 on a new gc2410.

tore the 'dl100' sticker off one side of the loader boom about 10 minutes after new... other than that no real problems.

quick couplers for the loader are leaking at 20 hours, also the backhoe main boom cylinder seems to weep a fair bit.

i thought the loader was going to be underpowered but it actually works very well with the weight of the machine, the backhoe will toss the whole unit around.

in and out of four wheel drive works good, and other than almost flipping it over, no unnecessary excitement.

i'm glad i went with loaded ag tires too.

sum it all up?

Bob

+1 My local Massey dealer just picked up the CCY line. I was just talking with the lead mechanic about the Cub shift on the fly. He also thinks it is not really a 2 range but a single range with a limiter plate for the low range. I also agree I would rather have a actual 2 range (or 3).

Shift on the fly hydro's are sometimes done by changing the angle of the swash plate that the motor group rides againt - the MF1165 had this feature a few years ago. It was solenoid activated. It basically gives you an extra range within the range gear selection.
