Massey Ferguson GC2610 TLB
I completed the 50 hour maintenance on my GC2610 today. Switched all fluids to Amsoil synthetic and it runs better than the day the dealer delivered it. The Amsoil ATH synthetic in the transmission seems to perform very well. I used NAPA filters on the oil (1360) and hydraulics (7089) versus paying extra for the same at the dealer. I will reply back with details on how the ATH works in the hydraulics during the winter months. I am sure the synthetic gear oil will be better for the front axle than the mineral that oozed out of it.

After my 50 hour, i switched to AMSoil for everything, engine, hydrolics, front diff, even grease ( it is red so it matches... ) No issues thus far, thank goodness, as it definitively costs more. :ashamed:

I'm interested that you found a Napa transmission/hydraulic fluid filter to fit your GC. I've taken the MF part number to Napa twice and they are unable to cross-reference it, and previous posts have said flatly there is no match in aftermarket brands for that particular filter. How did you find their part #7089?

I found the 7089 part number on the Internet, but the post wasn't positive so I took a chance and ordered it as the description was the same dimensions. When I received it the can is physically smaller but the gasket lined up properly and the spigot threads were the same. It is listed as a hydraulic filter. NAPA could not cross reference it for either.

Be careful because I think there is a reason it doesn't cross. Something to do with the backflow or something?

Thanks. I thought about that and investigated the application for the 7089 filter. It is used on Kubota tractors for hydraulic/trans and it sits horizontally the same as the MF GC2610, therefore I "assumed" that it would most likely have the same characteristics in this respect. I did notice that the Kubota filter sits higher in the transmission versus the MF sits lower and basically below the full point from the looks of it. I am still investigating and I am open to comments etc. I have emailed WIX to get specs etc and if this will fit the application.

ripcord, welcome to TBN,
I also switched to Amsoil since the 50 hour service,. I just finished changing out the gear lube in my MF snowblower with the same Amsoil Gear Lube I used in the front axle of my GC, ;). I agree that the tractor starts up great and warms up sounding a lot better now,. KC :D :D :D

gaylesmit- I've sent you an email as well, but here's a repeat:

Yes, your tractor needs anti-freeze.

However, it may already be there --at least it should be. You can purchase a very inexpensive anti-freeze tester from most auto parts stores; it's kind of like an eye-dropper, or perhaps a turkey baster, with little plastic balls in it. You just suck up some of the fluid out of the radiator (assuming it's fully mixed- if the tractor's previously been run to "fully warmed up" it should be), and count the balls/colors that float. There's a chart that will come with the tool that will then tell how much anti-freeze is in the solution. Probably, it should be like most other engines, 50%. (In case you're interested, the device will measure the specific gravity --or density-- of the solution.)

Hope this helps. In the future, you could post in a thread on TBN that's similar to your question, or you could start a "New Thread" of your own with your question. Welcome to TBN, by the way- it's a great place to get help!
