Well last night I swapped on my new gator blades on my 2008 Cub LT1050's deck. Just jacked the mower up with my ATV jack and did it from underneath, piece of cake with the breaker bar even for my just 2 weeks out of hernia surgery self!

Observations: These gator blades are a good bit heavier then my stock 3 in 1 cub cadet blades!!! Also, the gator blades do not appear like the pictures that come up for my particular par number seen in the link i'm attaching below. The ones I recieved have more teeth and appear to have higher lift. My stock blades were setup on my mower such that the blade on the non-discharge side of the deck and the middle blade actually almost meet in the center during rotation. I didn't really like that so I installed the gator blades with all three of them coming through at different times to avoid any potential contact.

Grass: The grass was reasonably tall but not as tall as it was last time I cut it. It did rain in the morning but the grass appeared pretty dry when I cut it. I managed to cut some of the median in front of my house that the developer is suppose to be taking care of but isn't and this stuff was upwards of 2' tall!!!

Results: Thus far these blades are a huge improvement in my mower's ability to cut heavy grass and cut with speed. They seem to generate a lot more lift then the other blades and they discharge with alot more velocity then the stock blades which is kind of the opposite of my expectations. They do cut the grass a good bit finer then the stock blades too though. The shute/discharge never even began to clog up with these blades even when cutting the 2' high median grass!!! Ofcourse I ran over the 2' grass very slow but the other blades would not have gotten through this i'm pretty sure. Further, I never had to stop the mower to scrape the deck to clear the excess accumalated grass. Grass still accumulated underneath the deck but it was much finer and only in a manner that didn't interfer with the blades!

Opinions: Thus far i'm very happy although i've only cut with them once. When I cut my neighbors yard again when it's really tall that will give me a better idea of their capability but it seems they handily beat my stock blades in all categories!!! Well worth the minimal amount invested.

Nick, since the three blades are belt driven and not locked together, they will not stay in that position for long. It's kind of like making a chalk mark on the top of all four tires on your car and driving around the block. The chalk marks will move in relation to each other.

Glad to hear that mower is working better than before. I think the gator blades recut the grass several times, making it "lighter" which lets it discharge at a higher velocity.

I see, that makes good sense especially under high load situations. That Koehler motor never really seems to bog down but I suppose something's gotta give and in this case it does via a slipping belt!

Oh, trust me, the belt will give first. I learned the hard way. I ran over a big ant hill that must've had some tough weeds or something in it and completely stalled my 44" deck, but the 20hp command only bogged a little and started smoking the pto belt before I hit the disengage. The belt only made it another 100' or so before chunks came out of it.

I like the gator blades too, but mine still seems to have a lot of trouble cutting taller weeds and bahaya grasses completely. It leaves some uncut no matter what speed and deck height, I think it just lays them over and runs over them. I don't know if that's a problem with this model deck or what, but it is annoying.

I had a 1050 with 50" deck; left a narrow strip of uncut grass as you state. Cub never could resolve the problem and Cub bought it back.
