Gas was put in my diesel tractor. It ran for about 20 seconds and shut off. It is not locked up it will spin over. The tank has been drained. Should I replace the glow plugs and add a little oil to the cylinders and bleed the lines? Any suggestions?

Get rid of all the (now) trash fuel: tank, lines, injector lines...all of it. Pulling the injectors and loading the cylinders with some oil might be a good idea also, but I don't know how much good it will do.
Fill it with fresh fuel, bleed the lines and hope for the best. I suspect that your best case scenario is that you'll need new rings.

That's a bit more than necessary to begin, just empty the tank, add fuel, change out filters, reprime the pump and go. The most damage is probably to the pump and injectors. But see how it runs with fuel. I've run Diesel trucks on starting fluid which is harder on rings than gas. Why do more than you have to?

I used to work with a large fleet of mixed heavy equipment and about once a year someone would put gas in a diesel. First off there was still diesel in the tank and the lines and injectors were full of diesel so the short time you ran in barely got it into the gasoline. Second, in that short time I'll bet you did no more than get it a little above idle, at any rate no load. So, I really doubt you damaged much in the cylinders. The most likely area of damage is the injector pump due to running with insufficient lubrication on some very close clearances. You could also stick some injectors but I think that is even a little unlikely. I think the oil in the cylinders is overkill. I would drain the tank and change the filters. Then crack the lines at the injectors a bleed out all of the contaminated fuel at the injectors. Then I would start it and hope for the best.

No reason to replace the glow plugs. They are just little heaters warming the cylinders. They would not be damaged by bad fuel.

Thanks, I will try this, this is my first diesel. I have a 49 and a 79 cubwhich are gas, this tractor was given to me and I have got to pick it up from Ga. I will post later how things turn out. Again thanks for the info.

I totally agree with you. Just drain tank and pump diesel through system to inj pump, crank and drive it. Several years ago my daughter filled up her Dodge diesel pick up with gasoline. She drove it about 100 miles and noticed it was loosing power and puffing white smoke out of the exhaust. I drained tank, put diesel in it,bleed fuel system and she drove it 1000's of miles more.

drain tank, flush lines and add fresh diesel.. Was it operated or only idle? It would have been detonating bad.. The most important is How much diesel was already in the tank and how much gas you added..

That 3t90j is probably fine just flush her out good

If you do need parts, whatever you do (because I also have a 950) buy them from anywhere but weavers!! just call them right now and ask a question, I'll put money on it he'll hang up on you

WAY overkill! unless the tractor was bone dry, running it for 20 sec. hurt nothing. It was still running on diesel. Diesel is heavier than gas and the gas would be floating on top of the diesel. there is more than 20 sec. worh of diesel in the lines.

I would drain the tank and change the FF and call it good for no longer than it ran!
