Take it out and exercise it. See you you can make it work manually.
Have taken them out and put them right back in and they work.
Oh it is a Fuel gauge not a gas gauge.

I call her , she is at Home Depot, she says "I busy right now but will call you back". Well she calls " I ran out of gas and a nice man brought me 5 gallons of gas and am getting ready to start it up".
