I've had two 4-way faucet manifolds that have broken and wasted gallons of water (and resulted in big water bills). Both have broken at the fitting to the faucet. Running drip irrigation off the one brass faucet in the garden. Purchased the brass one at Menard's and the aluminium type at Lowe's. Anyone have a brand recommendation?

Or should I try to fabricate my own with copper tubing or plastic pipe?

Thanks,

for manifolds. i normally hit the plumbing isles. and start fitting stuff together. (barely screwing stuff into each other without taking the stuff out of bags)

galvanized pipe / black pipe would most likely be suggested.

the above is more expensive. but should last for years to come. if you can mount the mannifold to house, or fence post or something. with some pipe hangers or zip ties or like. ya shouldn't have a problem. with anything, even if ya gotta give a little extra force to screw/unscrew something, or open up a valve. ((valves i prefer ball valves, were it is 1/4 twist of handle to open them, make sure they are full bore ball valves, (most likely brass)))

copper/plastic is way to easy to break / shatter / twist / bend.

I've found that if I want it to be strong and last, I have to make it out of copper.

I had to build my own (4 connections for drip irrigation lines + hose connection). The faucet I connected it to is out of direct sunlight, so I did PVC and connected the manifold to faucet using a braided metal washing machine hose. Four years and so far, no issues.

Don't connect a plastic manifold directly to a faucet. Use at least a foot or so of hose to let it give a bit when pulled or bumped.

Some of the plastic manifolds have ball valves with about a 1/2 inch hole for the water flow. Notice the bulge where the valve is located.

All of the brass ones I've seen have about a 1/4 inch hole in the ball.
