the title says it all-I'm planning on building a shed and would like to be able to easily park a tractor inside. The tractor has foldable rops which had to be shortened by 3-4" in order to fit into the existing prebuilt garage, but would like to plan for a larger tractor to fit with ease. Has an 10'x8' tall door been adequate for all your needs? Dare I ask, what about a backhoe attachment?

I realize as I type this I may not clearly understand what you're asking, but I do want to help.
I measured my L3540 equipped with R4s and come up with 77.5" over the folded ROPS.
I wouldn't consider a door less than 9' wide. Attachments and/or manuvering with the FEL bucket on calls for at least this much clearance as you go through the doorway.
I don't have a backhoe.

If you are starting from scratch..... make it tall enough for a cab, since theres a fair chance you will end up with one eventually !;)

My garage door was supposed to be 9' wide by 10' tall.

I specified it that way because I wanted to be certain to get my JD 110 TLB in the door, and I knew the builder would cheat somehow.

I got just under 10', maybe 9' 11" and he did get the 9' wide right.

Now I have been reading about the M59, but I have two reasons to resist.

A. it is too expensive.

B. it won't fit in the garage door.

The devil is trying hard to make me go look at one at a dealer...

If you can, build that shed with a door tall enough so you never have to fold your ROPS.

Before I had my new barn built, I parked in a garage and I had to fold the ROP each time and you know what? Those ROPS aren't the easiest thing in the world to fold. Mine was very stiff and it took ALL my weight pushing against it to make it fold. This was on a new tractor.

If your door has the clearance, you will be much happier if you can just start your tractor up and go to work instead of pulling out of the shed and then stopping and wrestling with the rops for 5 minutes then going back to work.

Not to mention the temptation to just leave the rops in the folded posistion.

I need to go measure my L3240 w/R4's, but it does ring a bell that ROPS up height is just over 8'-0" so it won't fit through an 8' door. Darn Japs.
