I bought a G5200 Kubota yesterday with a 48" deck and 543 hours on the meter. Overall it's in good shape and the motor runs smooth. The deck needs new blades and seems to run out rough so it might need spindle work. Picked it up for $1500.00, Think this was a good deal?

Sometimes I miss the one I had, great machine. I sold (gave) mine to my son three years ago for $2300. It had the hydraulic lift for the deck and the only thing I had to do to it was the rubber joint in the front of the driveshaft, lost one of the three screws and cracked the rubber. You did good. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cleaned up the G5200 yesterday and other than a few dents in the hood it looks great. Hour meter and everything works on the unit. The deck is in the process of getting cleaned up and I'm repainting both the underside and outside. The gear box is where the problem is, the front bearing is shot and the shaft is loose. Hope this can be rebuilt without alot of expense. What rubber seal were you refering to?

I looked back thru the thread and couldn't find reference to rubber seal, if you're referring to my reply, I was talking about the drive shaft between the engine and the hydro unit, it has a sort of unilversal joint on each end that cushions the shaft in rubber, the one on the front is the one I had to replace.

Thanks, I'll check mine. The gear box on the deck has a bad bearing, dropped it off yesterday and sure hope it can be rebuilt, new gear box is apx. 450.00!

Great buy, I used to have the G4200 diesel. Only reason I sold mine was I need rear 3pt or sleeve hitch ablities and the rear cat 0 3pt for this machine is super expensive, over 2K from Kubota!!!! I loved my little 12hp 2 cylinder diesel, very unique sounding over my wifes 3 cylinder diesel powered Cub Cadet. I know of another G4200 localy for sale, but same problem, I need a sleeve hitch put on it. I think most of the hitch from an older cub cadet will adapt, lower bracket with new holes drilled and the brinly adapter. Just need a way to link the brinly adapter to the rockshaft to life it. Congrats on the great buy! MIke

I had a G5200 diesel for a few years and it worked great. Then, I broke a drive belt and used that as an excuse to buy a new TG1860 diesel to take its place. :)
