G1900 blowing 10 Amp fuse

So today I was mowing with my son on the lawn tractor (he is almost too old for that at 6) and he was fiddling with the key and he turned it off the on and the thing died on the spot. Nothing when I turned the key.

It turned out the 10 Amp fuse blew, fuse for the ACC. I borrowed one from my Saab, got it going again, and the fuse blew again. Well, I was out of 10 Amp fuses so I slapped in a 15 Amp fuse and was able to finsh the mowing (another 45 minutes) without a hitch.

So, questions:

- Why would turning off and then on the tractor at load cause the fuse to blow?
- Could I have damaged anything?
- What could cause it to start blowing 10 Amp fuses?
-How bad is it to use a 15 Amp fuse in it?

I plan to buy some more 10 Amp fuses tommorrow and see if it is still blowing them, and then try to track down the cause.

Any hints on what it might be would be appreciated.

A fuse is the weak link in a circuit.
Fuses are rated for the wire size rather than actual applience draw.
The intent is for the fuse to blow at a given location rather than have your wire melt who knows where.(probably in a tightly wrapped loom along with 10-15 other circuits)

That being said, I read recently that many fuses are now being imported from China and that the ratings are not very accurate.
In other words while you thought you installed a 10 amp fuse it might have been only capable of carrying 6 or 7 amps.
Or again, you want a 15 amp fuse to protect a 16 g wire and the fuse only blows at 22 amps=melted wire!
