"G" Series info?

I currentley own a JD 245 and I have been thinking of upgrading for a couple of months now. Of course my local JD dealership would like me to go to a JD 425. But from word of mouth the Kubota products have grabbed my attention. I have 2 acres of the Granite State (NH) and a 500 foot driveway. Although my current JD being 14hp 38" mower deck and 42" single stage snow blower have served me very well over the past 5 years no complaints. But the G2160 Diesel with 3 cylinders and the advantage of the quick off and on for the mower and snow blower will make life easier. Any thoughts about the G2160? ALSO the dealers have been trying to talk me into the BX1800 other than 4 wheel drive I feel that is more machine than I would ever use. It would be nice to own but I really just cut the lawn and snow blow. I'm counting on the G2160 to give me far more bang for my limited bucks compared to going the the JD 425.

The G2160 certainly sounds like a reasonable match for your needs. It is a new model for Kubota, but their proven 3 cylinder diesel and the addition of hydraulics for greater ease of use with the mower-deck and blower (not on the TG1860) seem like a nice combination. By the way, you should compare with the JD455 (which has the diesel engine). The JD455 is also 2wd and comes in around $10k (bare) which is why the dealer is trying to get you into the BX1800 - the G2160 is a lower price point.

The BX has many advantages over the G2160 - you're really entering a different world - just look at the difference in their frames for evidence. You also open up a whole new range of additional implements because of the cat 1 hitch. Judging by your comments you may not need them though - that's part of being a smart buyer.

My wife swears that some of the cash for my BX2200 should have come out of my 'entertainment' budget and not the 'house' budget ... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Tennis, sorry I can not help, never owned one, no opition... Just wanted to know are you 3.5, 4.0 or better....
