Tractor
Don't own a tractor yet.
Hey. I live in NC and my wife and I just purchased 10 acres of land. I've been investigating various tractors in hopes of finding one that will fit our needs. I look forward to learning a lot from the experienced people here.

99. This is a great site. I live on 5 acres and really couldn't live here without my Kubota tractor and pickup truck. Many good choices in tractors, all depends on your land and what type of improvements and maintenance you want to do. Welcome aboard.

Welcome. I bought my first one in 2004. You definitely want 4wd if your land has any hills at all, for safety. 2wd units will just skid down the hills. I had a 4010, which is about a 2019 JD in terms of the way they're naming them today. This year, I traded it for a 1025. Wrote a review for it in the Reviews section.

All depends on your land, what your intentions are, your bankbook and your level of expertise. We need more info.

The dealer will be the key factor . All these little tractors are good . You need to visit local dealers and see how you are treated . Nothing worse than calling that dealer after the sale and getting the runaround . Hope this helps .

Welcome to TBN.

As you get closer to purchasing, I'd suggest starting a dedicated thread something like "Town, State, 10acres - looking for first tractor suggestions".

In that thread, aside from a detailed task list and $ budget, post some pictures of your land to convey slope, coverage, trail use.....

Talk to the locals about soil conditions, esp. vs rain. Not that you'll be planting 2,000 acres, but where I'm going is tire type (meaning R1,R4, Turf).

As commented, there are lots of good compact tractors available today - changing tire type after a new purchase agreement is signed can be expensive though.

Enjoy the new land, and your upcoming tractor !

Rgds, D.
