The starter on my 1985 Kubota L305DT was drawing too many amps and eventually severed the fusible link in the circuit. The fusible link was nothing more than a solid wire (not stranded) and no larger in diameter than a regular sized paper clip. I'd like to upgrade with a more conventional type fuse if possible. Does anyone know what size fuse would be appropriate? If not, how do I determine what type of wire to use to replace the burned wire?

Some of the fusible links have a plastic tag that is made on to the wire. This tag will have the amps that it is rated at. If it was me and I didn't want to replace the fusible link, I would put a breaker in a standard wire. It would also need to be of the correct amperage.

First off..FIX THE STARTER! Adding new / additonal HEAVIER breakers to the circuit is like sticking pennys in an old fashon fuse box

Then can the fuseable link and as stated before...install a "breaker"..that when cool auto re-sets.

The starter is on my work bench and I'll have it rebuit. Appears a new one runs about $250. My buddy, a Mercedes mechanic, tells me to stay with the fusible link. It protects a ten guage circuit and the proper fusible link should be 16 gauge. Thanks for the help. I believe I'm on track now.
