I like to use a funnel with a paint filter to catch debris while filling. I had owned a Kubota RTV900 that had the angled fuel filler that I never did find what I needed. I traded the RTV in on a Toolcat and it has a similar side filler that a normal funnel doesn't work good without spilling. So, I decided to buy a Scribner 6115 14" D-shaped 45 degree funnel to see if it works. It just came today and WOW...it is heavy duty, won't flex, and is big. It dwarfs my paper filter I use and is shaped perfect. It is top heavy so you have to hold it or make a wire holder like I did. I just thought I would show fellow equipment owners this product. Note: I have not used it yet.

If I fill from my tanks with a pump and nozzle, I don't need a funnel and if I use a Jerry Can, I would just put a long or flexible nozzle on the can. Am I missing something?

I don’t fill from cans very often anymore. When I have to I usually use my VP race cans with a flexible spout and don’t need a funnel.

Well, I have jugs like those VP jugs with the large openings but I don't have the hoses. I just wanted to show an option for people that opt for a funnel in this type of situation. :drink:

Wow.. that IS nice.
Nice BIG mouth on it.. no chance in spilling anything there!! & it LOOKS sturdy as heck..
That'll be great for my pontoon boat.. I like to fill-up before I leave the house & the neck is in a weird location & "UP" on the trailer..
Thanks for sharing.

How long is that expensive piece of plastic going to last though?

The Scribner funnel is made just as tough as my Scribner 5gal fuel jug and that is 20 years old. I'll assume it will outlast me.

I was referring to the configuration directly above my previous post. OTOH I am going to try your paint filter method; I am in here rather than out on my tractor looking for a cleaner way to use 5 gallon fuel cans.
I bought a brand new can Thursday, filled it with fresh fuel, and dumped it into the tractor Friday.
I spent the last 4 hours cleaning the inline filter, priming, running the tractor until it died then priming, running it until it died...
in the middle of my town road.
