I'm in the process of getting my 100 gallon diesel transfer tank and pump ready for use. The tank will be located in my tractor shed and only be on the truck when I go to fill it.

What kind of warning stickers are you guys using on your tanks and how many?

Thanks

If you can find the sticker you wish to use, enjoy.
When we have labeled our tanks it was,
Diesel fuel
off-road use only

If you are loading it and taking it to be filled are you using highway taxed fuel?
If so I'd just label it "Diesel Fuel"using a stencil and paint.

I have access to both highway and off road diesel so, I'll just use "diesel fuel only stickers". Does "flammable" stickers have to be on the tank also?

I believe that you will find that that is a DOT requirement that doesn't kick in till you are over a certain volume.
If you are concerned that a smoker might be around your tank you wouldn't be prohibited from using them.
The only reason to make a tank off-road is to prevent someone from using that fuel in a pickup or truck as it is very
difficult to get all the dye color out of a tank it doesn't take much dyed fuel to color undyed.

Combustible would be the correct sticker for diesel. Flammable is used for gasoline.

Go to just about any Truck Stop and get the stick on placards .

Since I am supposed to be the only one accessing my fuel, I don't have anything on it. If some a-hole steals some of my off road diesel and puts it in his truck and gets caught, more power to the LE agent. I don't transport my tanks so no markings are needed. I keep my lawnmower gas in red gas cans again which I only have legal access to. I only marked the mixed (2 cycle)fuel for my own benefit using a black magic marker.

I suppose if I had a dozen farm boys working for me, had on road diesel, off road diesel, gasoline, etc. I would mark each tank like FredH did, but I don't so I didn't.

Thanks again for the info. I ordered diesel stickers and will look for a combustible sticker.

Since I'll be hauling the tank to get fuel I just wanted to make sure I was legal in case I was checked by the fuel police. Better to CMA than not.

As an afterthought... My place is unattended a lot of the time. If the tank is labeled "diesel" maybe that might deter some yahoo from stealing fuel for his moped thinking the tank was filled with gas.

The only reason I labeled my tank was for Fire Department Knowledge if We had a situation . I have the only key for the lock , ( Since My D.S. son drained the tank a year ago when He had a Diesel pickup :censored: ) .
