This tank followed me home the other day. It's 3 years old, double walled 500 gal (I think  ), 12v pump with ~20' cables, Goldenrod filter set up, auto nozzle with 20' hose. All included is a little north of $1200 new, I scored it for $400 delivered!

It has some crud in the filter and I assume more in the tank. (Sounds like maybe 5 or 10 gal sloshing around) I have a sealed pit for camp fires, actually an old loader bucket turned upright, the plan is to empty the tank into the fire pit and just burn it.

I am thinking about blasting and painting it Kubota Orange and ordering the biggest Kubota sticker in the parts book for the sides, we'll see.
I haven't figured out a place for it to live yet.

What do you all think, did I do alright for $400? I figure the pump is worth half that.

Nice tank DT86. You didn't go wrong, I bought a new 12v pump and filter last year and if I remember correctly, it was around $400 by the time I got out the door with it. My tank was faded bad and I wanted to change the color anyway, so I blasted and repainted it.

It wasn't that bad of a job blasting, but the old paint was on there better than i thought.

Thanks guys.

I've been wanting one for a while but was too cheap to buy a new one. This one I knew wasn't being used lately so I asked about buying it.

This will compliment the 50 gal transfer tank in the truck nicely. I pass a station that sells off road in my daily travels so it is convenient to buy 50 gal at a time but I can now shop around for better prices when the time comes to fill the new one.

1. Are you sure that it's diesel in tank?

2. Can you lift tank with your FEL?

3. Does tank have a drain on end of tank near bottom?

If so, you might get a MR Filter and drain tank thru filter into buckets. Then put the filtered fuel back into the tank and slosh it around as you can. Then drain again thru the filter. That should pretty well clean tank. If, at this point, the fuel looks good put it back in tank and treat with Power Services them dilute with a some good tax free diesel.

Make sure to replace the Goldenrod filter, cheap at Tractor Supply, and enjoy the savings of tax free diesel.

1) I'm sure it contains some off road diesel and some water. Ratio unknown.

2) Yes, easily. (otherwise it'd still be in the back of a truck :p)

3) No, surprisingly enough. All it has are 4- 2" and 1 - 4" bungs across the top.

I might just dump some biocide in it, change the filter, add a swivel to the hose, redo the shabby wiring and call the fuel truck.

I looked up the manufacturer by comparing pictures online and it was built by Highland Tank out of Pennsylvania but it turns out it is a single wall tank.

You may be surprised how much of my equipment was gotten using the same method. There's some really good deals out there if you keep looking and sometimes all you have to do is ask.

I was all excited about the double wall. That would have been sweet. I'm always smelling Diesel wondering if my tanks leak. And always blasting and painting them. You might want to paint them silver like I do. The less sun they attract, the better.

Some places need tanks to be certified for delivery of fuel. We arn't allowed to have gravity fed tanks and our skid mounted tanks have to sit on reinforced concrete blocks. Not just straight concrete! I had a block of wood between the legs and the concrete to level the tank up a bit and the driver removed it! Utterly STUPID!

If I got a tank like yours, I would clean it out. Pressure wash inside as best as you can. Then you won't have any surprises farther down the road.

Oh, and pay close attention to how far down your suction pipe goes. Too close to the bottom and nothing you own will run right anymore. Found that out recently.

I put a cock on the bottom of all my tanks and then a plug or cap just in case the valve leaks or gets hit.
