Fuel Tank Removal Craftsman GT3000

Hi All, anyone know how to remove a fuel tank from a Craftsman GT3000? Can a leaking at the seam tank be repaired or does it have to be replaced? Does anyone know where to get an owners manual for the tractor? Thanks for your help!!

Yeah, I found that, but what I really need is a repair manual to see how to get it out. Does anyone know if there are such a thing as a Haynes Manual type thing like for cars?

What do you think a 3-5 year old GT 3000 goes for, and do you think it is a good machine?

If you can completely empty the tank ,and can get to the spot that is leaking clean it with fine sandpaper and use JB weld on it. I have a plastic gas tank that was repaired 2 years ago and still not leaking. JB weld and JB weld Quick is available at most parts stores and Harbor Freight also carries it here.

Thanks Amaxwell, It is the seam that is split. It is a plastic tank. well I found that Sears has the tank in their parts list for $60.00.I am going to order one and then see if i can repair the bad tank. If so, I can return the new tank.

My daughter has the same model mower and the tank leaked at the seam. I repaired it over 3 years ago. I did the repair using a soldering iron and a stick of ABS rod. the weld has held well without a leak. I don't know if I was just lucky with this repair as I did not have much experience with plastic welding. I have been told that nylon cable ties also work as a welding rod although I have never tried them.

years back I fixed my sons plastic mini-bike tank with some epoxy that advertised that it worked with gasoline. Pretty sure I found it in a HomeDepots large glue/epoxy aisle. Good luck to you.

Check the internet for parts. I used to find my craftsman riding mower part#s off Searsrobuck.com. Then I would search Ebay. Way easier in my book. Good luck.

I don't remember all the details but removing the seat and big cover wasn't difficult and did not take a lot of time. The actual plastic welding only took a few minutes.
