fuel shut off

I just bought a 2150 and to shut it off he showed me to turn off the key and pull the fuel shut off and it works, after getting it home it has a selinoid that looks like it might work off the key, so my question is do they or don't the shut off with the key Thank's Don

To explain a bit further, turning the key to "off" energizes a solenoid for a few seconds to do the same thing that pulling the knob does - positively shuts off the fuel at the injector pump. Provided the solenoid, its wiring, and the linkage are all functioning then turning the key to off shuts off the engine. A few seconds later there's a click when power is automatically cut to the solenoid. If any part of the circuit is not functioning, the engine will keep running. Turning the key is convenient, but pulling the knob is more direct and reliable.

We have the same issue with an L2850 at work. After pricing the selenoid, we decided it wasn't that inconvenient to pull the fuel shutoff!!
