How do you shut off fuel flow to change filter on 5045E Deere? The manual is no help. Did it for the first time and 4 Gals flowed into the bucket as I scrambled to change the filter. Must be missing something. Help!:anyone:

I have clamped the rubber line before with vice grips. Have places rubber over the ends so it doesn’t tear them them and it’s worked fine for me

So they don't shut off with no power or there is no shut off valve?

You have flow from the tank. JD SM said it quit, but I lost 4Gals, so not sure. It didn't stop flowing and, no shut off valve can see or in the book, mentioned or otherwise.

The less fuel that leaks out of the lines, the easier it is to restart. Clamp the line, prefill the best you can the new filter and it makes things easier and quicker

I don’t think there is a 12v valve that shuts fuel off

From my research, so far, I think you are correct. That is stupid on Deere's part. Have a query into "Ask Tractor Mike", so we'll see. How in the H%$LL you are supposed to clean all the parts up good and check it over, not to mention they tell you to drain the FF before you start, is beyond me. I don't mind an Indian Tractor, but the manual shouldn't be. :duh:

Thanks for the help, your idea or a shut off value on the tank side are my thoughts now if this holds.

If you watch YouTube Cotton Top recently completed the yearly maintenance on his 5075E. He goes through the same issue and clamps the fuel line. I'm getting ready to do the second maintenance on my New Holland Workmaster. When I performed the initial 50 hour maintenance I did not do the fuel filters. I will this time. It has two. I hope there is a shut off somewhere. I doubt it.

There's a fuel shut off valve on the top, facing outwards, of the fuel (sediment) bowl of my 4105.

Not knowing your experience with tractors, the 'fuel bowl' is the clear plastic "cup" with a red plastic ring inside. The ring will float if there's water present in the diesel. The shut off valve is a small handled "cock" with ON & OFF stamped in the relative positions.

That isn't the same. Deere likes to change stuff. No shut off valve on this one. Thanks for the help.

I'll watch it. Clamp may be it. Good luck with yours, It is down right stupid the makers don't account for this in some way. Diesel isn't free and it is a mess. Again, thanks and good luck.
