I have a Fill-Rite HD fuel pump on my truck and the auto shut off nozzle keeps leaking out the discharge end. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It makes a mess of the trucks back window when the wind blows the drops of fuel. I guess it has gotten some dirt in there, can it be fixed? It didn't leak at first or I just didn't notice the problem when it was on my storage tank. It's not doing our black truck much good. I use a water block filter. It should be getting clean fuel. I guess I'll get a new nozzle this week unless there is some fix I can do. It's only three months old, don't remember the standard nozzles leaking in the past. This is our first auto nozzle.

Same problem with auto nozzels at my work, the iner tube somehow takes forever to drain. the nozzel realy dosen't leek it just drains excess slow, what i did was cut a piece of pipe weld one end closed, add pet cock to bottom, mounted that behind tank on side of toll box,L shape tank, box on top.place so nozzel slides in top of pipe driping fuel is caught in pipe so you can empty about once a week. the pipe should be about 6" long. hope this helps for an idea

If its an auto nozzle only issue I'll use a standard nozzle. I only use it for my little Kubota which holds 10 gallons. That pipe idea sounds good for our work trucks which fill larger tractors where those auto's are nice. Going to a standard nozzle would work for me if they don't leak. This is the first time I've put a pump on a clean personal truck, the other trucks stay so dirty with oil and such, I can't really tell if they are leaking. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Right now I'm keeping the nozzle in the bed untill it stops dripping. It takes 24 hours for it to stop. I just checked and it seems dry. Kinda of a pain after paying extra for the auto version. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have noticed with my fillrite pump on a drum that if I forget to open the 1'' cap it will create such a vaccum that when I'am done filling and shutoff pump I pull the handel and the vaccum sucks the hose back to the tank if it's held above it-putting an end to the leaking fuel

Of coarse the drum creaks and pops a little but it don't seem to hirt it. Also works if I just unscrew cap some

My aux tank on the truck will pop and dent if you don't crack the fuel cap a little. The 3/8 vent line is a bit small. I may add a vented cap if I come across a nice looking one. I use a brass cap now.

I guess I'll try the plain jane nozzle. I checked the one at work and it seem to stay leak free. I'm tired of the diesel fuel getting on the trucks back window.

Did the non auto nozzle seem to help?
