What do you think my fuel gauge is stuck on full while running, when you turn the key off it goes back down to empty and also when you unplug the wires from the float. I have tapped on the tank and around the float to see if it stuck nut I have not had avy sucess. Anyone think the sending you on the float is bad?

Yup sounds like a bad sending unit or stuck in the full position.

The fuel guage on my L4400 appears to be non-linear, that is, it stays above the full mark for about half the tank, then starts dropping. This is similar to the way auto gas guages used to be. You used to think you were getting great gas mileage then the guage started dropping precipitously. Nowadays car guages tick off the gallons, quite accurately. Don't know why the difference but the one Kubota supplies appears to be cheap old technology. All I can say it's better than the guage on my 8N:(take the cap off and look in the tank)

Mine does the same thing too. When it gets to 1/2, you better think of filling it. I think the tank is shaped like a funnel, so the lower the fuel level, the faster the gauge drops..

Sure sounds like the sending unit. You still under warranty?

When I was looking for a tractor before I got my L4400 I was looking at a used Massey of some sort. There was a skiny stick hanging from a wire near the dashboard. I asked the dealer what it was.....you got it...the fuel gauge!

My warranty ran out in May but my gauge does not drop after a 1/2 a tank it has always come down slowly like a gauge should. Now it just shows a full tank when ever it is running. I guess I am going to have to pull the float out and see what is going on.

Add one more to the ranks of the broken fuel gauge (always full). The good part is that this is the only problem so far.

N80 -- sounds familiar.

Several weeks ago I borrowed a neighbours tractor. A branch laying on the loader frame turned out to be a fuel gauge.:D :D
