fuel filter

Working on a 2016 ck3510. When I replaced the fuel filter and tried to bleed it fuel leaked from the top of the filter. Closing the bleeding screw stops the leak. I had the filer on and off several times, looked at the o ring and it looks good. I cleaned the filters mating surface on the tractor still leaks at the top with bleeder open. I tried putting the old one back on, still leaks. Anyone have any ideas? The one stupid question I have, If the filter doesn't leak with the bleeder screw closed, is that the way it supposed to work?

Well, it sounds like you've got all the air out now. You can close the bleed screw.

If I'm understanding you correctly, Kioti must be using a different fuel filter assembly now. Do they no longer have the lever with open, close, and air, positions?

Yea, if I look at the fuel on the ground I have about a gallon of air out. The fuel never came out of the bleeding screw, it came out of the top of the filter. I've never had a need to open the bleeding screw before and don't know if its normal to leak at the top instead of coming out of the bleeding screw.
As far as a different filter, I'm not sure the ever built two of them the same. There are no shut off valves or buttons of any kind, just the bleeding screw on the right hand side as you look at it. When I first removed the old filter there was no fuel coming out. After installing the new filter its later removal resulted in a good flow of fuel which could not be stopped, resulting in the gallon of air on the floor.

Is the new filter OEM or aftermarket?
Why did you change the filter, was it contaminated with water or clogged with dirt, etc. or just due for a change based on hrs/time?

I have a 2017 CK3510SE just changed mine no need to bleed it. Just pump the primer on the top a few times and that was all I had to do. No fuel leaked other than when I removed the water sensor from the bottom prior to removing the old filter.

Thanks for the replies, I called the place where I bought it and they recommended applying grease to the ring. Went back out to try the grease and there was no leak, I started it up and no leak. I'll check it out in a while and see how it is. Thanks.

Just an FYI for the future...disconnect the water sensor cable at the wiring connector (about 6" from the filter) and then unscrew the filter with the short cable still attached. Dump the fuel, remove sensor from filter, install sensor to new filter, fill new filter with fuel, smear gasket with OIL, screw on filter, and reconnect sensor wire. No spilled fuel or mess, didn't even need to use primer button.
