Thought I'd share my recent fuel filter problem and save someone else some time. Last few days I started losing power while plowing up slight inclines in 6th gear. She'd just dog down and rpms would fall right off. (gear tractor with two ranges, chains on all 4 and loaded tire so lots of traction). This was something I never had a problem with before so I suspected either clogged injectors, bad injector, or fuel filter. Kubota dealer listened to my symptoms, asked if there were any black smoke when it dogged down (none), and said it sounded like a fuel filter.
Changed fuel filter according to directions, open bleed valve on top of filter housing until fuel runs clear, close, then open bleed valve on fuel pump for 30 seconds and close. Do all that and she won't start. No smoke, ie no fuel getting to pump. Pulled the small hose off the bleeder valve on the fuel pump that goes I don't know where and opened the valve. Fuel spurted a little, then ran steady. Should have been solid fuel since I had already cracked it for 30 seconds. Obviously maybe a blockage wherever it terminates so the air couldn't escape and I had an airlock. Put hose back on and she fired right up and no more dogging. Back to spinning wheels if the load gets too much!
Anway anyone experiencing simiar problems it's an easy do it yourself $15 fix. I'm also going to start changing fuel filters annually (every 100 hours) instead of the recommended 400 hours. Cheap enough insurance!
