I encountered an unusual situation today and wondered if anyone else has had this problem. I recently had to replace the fuel filter bowl on my Century 2535 after it broke at the top like others have discussed. While doing some work for a friend the tractor started losing power under a heavy load as if it were running out of fuel. After bleeding and re-bleeding the fuel lines and not seeing any improvement I finally gave up and removed the entire fuel filter assembly. What I found was the shut off valve lever has a small spring that pushes the nylon valve tightly against the valve body, to such an extent that the pawls on the end of the shutoff lever will not engage the valve. So when I turned the valve off to remove the bowl to replace it, I had shut the valve almost completely off and it was not letting enough fuel get to the engine for a heavy load, even though the valve had shutoff lever had been turned back to the open position. I never could get the pawls to engage properly so I just adjusted the valve open with a screwdriver and stuck the control lever back into the filter assembly in the open position. After putting the assembly back on the tractor, it ran fine with no further problems.

Has anyone else had this problem? Willie Jones
