tc40a. The fuel bowl does not stay full. When I pull the return line off the fuel bowl fills back up. Put the return line back on and run the tractor for 15 or 20 minutes then the fuel bowl starts to drop again. The return line from the injectors on top of the fuel bowl is what I pull off to make it fiil back up. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks for any help okay

My tractor must be completely different from yours. The line on top of mine comes from the tank and flows inside the (tiny) filter and then it flows through the filter to the outside and the bowl. Maybe your shutoff valve is clogged? On my tractor, if the bowl doesn't fill it means the filter is clogged, usually with gel or ice, but that won't happen where you are. In any case, I would certainly check to be sure the filter isn't the cause. Water in the tank can be a culprit as well. If you drain some from the tank into a glass jar, and check for water, you can remove it if it's sitting in the bottom of the tank.

Thanks for the reply. I changed the filter recently. My line from the tank goes into my filter bowl . When the bowl gets low after about 15 minutes I will pull the hose from the return line for injectors off the top of the fuel bowl and the bowl will fill back up. and then it runs good until the bowl empties again. Will check the tank for water and let you know. Thanks

Is there lost of engine power, RPM or stops? Is the blockage in the fuel tank? Like rag, sticks or other stuff blocking the drain? Did you try opening up the fuel tank cap to see if the fuel filter bowl fills up when the cap open? If the bowl fills then the tank is not venting, check the cap to if it vented you may have cap that not vented. The newer cap has a check ball inside that can be heard rattling when shake.

I forgot to ask should fuel be coming thru the return line to the top of the tank.when the motor is running. When its running there is no fuel coming out.

When you pull the return line off. for the bowl to fill up. Is this the return line from the injectors to the top of the fuel tank? Did the fuel bowl fill up after loosing the fuel cap or the removal of cap?

If removing the fuel cap did not help you may have blockage or restriction. First remove the fuel line that connect to the inlet of fuel filter. Have a hose that is larger the line you remove from the fuel base .be ready put the smaller hose inside the larger one and run the larger hose to fuel can. have fuel can hold all the fuel that in the Diesel tank. the fuel should flow out steady and non stop until the fuel tank is empty. If this doesn't happen go to drain fitting on the bottom of the fuel tank this one the hose is connected to. Remove the hose from the fitting. Be ready with a hose to put on the fitting and put the other end of the hose into the fuel can. If the fuel dose not flow steady or come out tank you got blockage in the Tractors Diesel fuel tank. Then need to some how get the fuel out the tank. by pumping or siphon fuel out. Remove the tank from Tractor and clean it out. Also check the fuel line from fuel tank to the fuel filter. It may be plugged or pinched off under operator platform.

Today I drained all the fuel from the tank and blew all the line's out with air hose. The fuel came out steadily from the tank l then blew air thru the tank to get all the fuel from the tank. I then changed the fuel filter and put on a new fuel cap. I did find the clamp on the lift pump lose. I started it up and ran for about 20 minutes and the bowl stayed full. I will run it longer tomorrow and see if it stays full. I did not see it drop at all. Maybe one of the things I did was right. I will let you know tomorrow. I want to thank everyone for the reply it really helped to narrow it down
