Anyone have experience with the Frontier RC2060?
Still waiting on the 2520 to arrive. We have about 4-5 acres of grass. Probably 2+ of it is lawn which I plan to mow with the 62" MMM I have ordered. I need some sort of solution for the remainder, which as of now is 18-24" tall and is basically turf grass that has been allowed to grow. We are just moving in; it is my impression that the previous owners allowed this portion of the lawn to grow long and just bush hogged it several times per year.

Is the RC 2060 a decent rotary cutter? Does it play well with iMatch? Would it be a good match for the 2520? Thoughts on whether it would be a good mower for maintaining the taller / heavier parts of the lawn?

Thanks...

I have it's bigger brother the Frontier RC2072 which I use to cut 20-25 acres of field grass. Have had zero problems. It is one of three rotary cutters I currently have and it is a well built unit. The RC2060 will serve you well in what you want to do with it.

That RC2060 should work well for you. It is iMatch ready.
Let us know how well it works. ;)

I have a RC2048 and find it a great fit for my 2320. I have 18.0 PTO HP. Your 2520 has 20.5 PTO HP. Not a lot more so you might want to consider the RC2048 following the 5 PTO HP/FT recommendation.

I just cut a really rough field of tall grass that had scattered bushes and a few small twig trees. Getting into heavy stuff I would reduce ground speed so not to bog down. Just cutting tall grass was easy. I expect if I had a RC2060 I would bog down more. Guess it really all depends on what you want your RRC to handle. If just grass then maybe you could run a RC2060 just fine. In general I think a RRC should be smaller then your finish mower size.

How about slip clutch vs shear bolts? I'm thinking clutch, but interested in opinions... I guess I have the option when ordering.

Clutch only for me. I've had several rotary cutters over the years and some had shear and some had clutch. If you are only cutting grass you might go for the shear to save some dough but for rough cutting you'll get tired of replacing shear pins.

I have the Frontier 2060 RC - use it with my 4720 & iMatch very easy to hook up. had the 2060 for 3 seasons and i can't seem to find anything it will not do for me. once I was mowing very high (36-42in.) dense grass with my Frontier 2084 Grooming Mower (because I was too lazy to put the RC on)...until in a short period of time the belts started slipping and it was smoking like crazy. I switched to my 2060RC and finished up with no problem as all..it was probably over an acre of this stuff.

I've been using a RC2060 (with slip clutch) for a while now, reclaiming some neglected areas. I've probably been abusing it, cutting quite a bit in the way of saplings & brush and backing into brush tangles too dense to see through. I've picked up some small dents and dings, but it has held up well enough that I'd say it should last pretty much forever if the only thing you're cutting is grass! (assuming proper lube & maint of course...)
