Rear Finish Mower Frontier GM2072R discharge

I just purchased a JD 790 with a GM2072R mower. it is a rear discharge and has chains. I am cutting my yard 3 1/2". The mower cuts great just leaves rows if cut grass. It does not spread it out. Looks terrible. Any suggestions to get a even discharge or is this typical for a rear discharge mower,

I have a Rhino TM84 rear discharge. It does not have chains, but the back of the deck slopes down a little bit to stop it from throwing stuff. It will windrow grass a little, depending on how much is being cut and a lot on the texture of the grass. I have one section of finer grass that I don't use it on for that reason. It also helps with mine to keep the underside of the mower clean.

My GM1072R also windrows when cutting tall or wet grass. Around here, my grass gets to about 8 inches in the spring before I mow it to 4.5 inches and will leave rows. I tried removing the chains and it helped some, but not much. Also, it it a pain to be removing/reinstalling the chans due to all the bolts, so I decided to put them back on and leave them that way.

In short, I think what you are seeing is normal for the mower. You might try mowing more often or mowing when the grass is dry, if not already doing that.

Thanks for the information. Is this typical for a rear discharge mower or just the frontier? I thought the rear discharge was the best way to go. This unit is a 2007. The gear drive has "ROTO" on it. Not sure if WOODS manufactured this unit or not.

I have upgraded to a Land Pride FDR3690 finish mower. It cuts good and even in heavy grass it will throw out the cut grass well without wind rowing. It has a swing blade design and baffling to help with a even discharge of crass clippings. Now, my older 72" LP mower will will wind row some, but not too bad.
