Traction front wheel drive lever not working

I have a lk 3054 with 320 easy hours on it, the front wheel drive lever will not disengage the front wheels. The lever moves very easy and it turns the shaft going into the transmission. Previously, when I took it out of 4 wheel drive, I just rested my foot on the lever and drove it until the lever went "down" into the 2 wheel drive posistion, I never forced it ! Can anyone tell me what may have happened ?

I'm not familiar with your specific tractor but a similar thing happened to me. The root of the problem was simply that a linking component between the lever and the actual functional component of the transmission had wiggled loose and was hanging free.

I just re-attached the lever.
