Do I need anything besides the quicktatch weights to use them on my 990? I looked at JDParts and there is the weight bracket which I think I have (what the retaining latch for the loader hooks onto?) and it appears a rod with pins in the ends that I don't think I have. How many can you fit on the front? Can you put enough on to make up for not having the loader on?

Nope you only need the weights unless you want the pin that hold the weights down but we have never lost any without using it. The standard weight bracket either the factory one or loader modified one can hold 6, 42 pound quick tach weights. You can get an extender for the factory bracket for additional weights but then your loader would not fit.
