Front Weight and Bumper for Yanmar

Almost nothing on my property is flat, so it was important that I get the front end to sit a little steadier and give the 4wd a chance to work.

Got these random pieces and put it all together. Total weight is about 150 pounds. Cost $50.

It has really made a difference in performance. I haven't used a heavy rear implement yet, so hope it does the trick for that too.

The I-beam sould make a good brush pusher. I already use it as a good shelf to strap stuff to. Here it is ready for battle with the chainsaw strapped on.

Looks good. I'm sure that will help quite a bit. It doesn't take much weight up front to make a huge difference.

You did what I did to my little 2wd Mitsubishi with the "I" beam but I put weight on top and bottom of the "I" beam.
I started with 171lbs and thought that was all I needed till I started using a 400lb tiller, I then added 183 more lbs for a total of 354. I haven't tried it yet but I am confident I won't need anymore.

You will be able to add more weight if you need it in the future real easy with the "I" beam.

I tell ya....I'm actually stunned at the difference it has made. It feels like a whole different machine. The I-beam does make it easy to add more. It also has been an extremely handy shelf to carry stuff. Sort of like a mini-carry-all.

Tony, I'd chamfer the corners of that beam if I was you. Someday you're gonna do real damage to yourself.

I was checking oil on the tractor yesterday and hit my head on the foot rest area. That tractor doesn't give any, that's for sure.

Get yourself a 4 1/2 in angle grinder. Cheap one from HF or a more expensive one, doesn't matter. You'll find that once you have it you'll find uses for it.

Even a hacksaw and a file would work, that's pretty soft steel. Just takes a little more elbow grease.

I built a bracket for the front of my Kubota that I can stack suitcase weights on. With the splitter or brush cutter I use two, each weighing 125 lbs. I built it so the weights sit sideways and don't stick out the front much. I don't have a real good picture but you can get the idea. My bracket will hold three weights total, one is installed in the picture. With two weights on the tractor is very stable with a 5' Ford Brush Cutter on the back. Haven't found a need for three yet.

I couldn't find a suitcase weight that I thought was priced reasonable. Suddenly weight is expensive if you get it that way

Also, about half of my property is wooded, so I liked the width for use as a brush pusher. Will work well when hogging taller stuff too.

Yep.. front weight helps. I was moving lotsa dirt on a 30" rear scoop on my yanmar 1700 and was getting the light front end issue. i took 2 4" pipes and filled with cement and then bolted them together and then to the bumper.. worked like a charm.

I like your i-beam design I bet you you could hold a tool box in that 'tray' area.
