Hi everyone. Just wondering in anyone knows of a mfg that makes a front mount rototiller to go on front 3 pt hitch/pto? Alot of euro tractors have front 3 pt/pto, any europeans on this site know who makes a unit like this?

With a front mount tiller you're going to compress the freshly tilled soil, seems kind of counter productive.

I did also think of that....but let me elaborate. Want to front till and lay black plastic mulch(plasticulture) with a Rain Flo 2550 in one operation. The same occurs now since tilling is done first then driving over tilled sections to lay mulch. Looking to save time by doing it in one operation. Post harvest I have run a Salford CTS 9705 wing plow at 9 inches deep, ground speed of 7 mph to break up compaction hardpans.

Maschio(sp?) might make one. I don't know if they do, but if anybody going to make a front mounted PTO operated rototiller they would. Otherwise I see two options for you:

1. Flip the 3pt brackets and gear box on a regular rototiller and use it that way. I flipped the 3 pt brackets on my rotary hoe and Univerth Perfecta II (OK it required a little more engineering and work that just flipping the brackets on the Perfecta II) for working on my front 3pt.

2. Adapt a rototiller attachment for a Skid Steer to 3pt and run it with Hydraulic flow. This would depend on how much flow your tractor can produce, but would be the option I would go for as the SSL attachments are designed to run forwards or reverse.

Thanks for the input.

Seems hooking the mulch layer behind the tiller to do all in one pass would make a better riggin. (and less total work and money)

A pic of the mulch layer would help.

You are right.

Two passes looks like what you are stuck with. :)

All the european brands do a front mount version of the power harrows which are a better than a rototiller and all similarly do a rear attach for machines such as yours to fit on to tillers !
Front mount
What's new in Farming - Amazone: Front-mounted frame for KE series

Hitching on the tiller is done with rotovators too, like the bed tillers here from standen which is the old "HOWARD"tillers .
BEDFORMERS

But more normally on power harrows

D7E,

Thanks for the photo and link, very informative what is being done elsewhere when efficiency is paramount.

.382,

I would think that a Hyd motor mounted to your choice of tiller would be an excellant option, from specs I have seen typical HP requirements are about 3hp/ft of width. You could mount the tiller to the front frame of the tractor w/o building a 3PH by using small "I" beams (3" x 3") and guide wheels. Lifting could be done by a modestly sized hyd cylinder.

Overall, I commend your efforts to improve efficiency!
