I want to get me a 5' brush hog and run it with hydraulics . I have two hydraulic motors, one I could plumb off the rear PTO (540rpm) or off the mid PTO (2000 rpm). I also have a hydraulic tank (20 gallons) that I could mount on the 3 pt hitch. I want to use a skid steer hog so I can mound it via the ssqa on my loader arms.
Is this possible?
Will it work to cut not only grass and brush, but also low hanging tree limbs of about 2" diameter.

It will work if you have the $$$$ to put into it. Will your pump work, with no info on the pump we have no way of knowing. Ed

I have the two pumps already.
One is a DELAVAN roller pump Model#66-5110 and the other is A HYPRO 66400. I am also wondering which PTO I should use. The 2,000rpm or the 540 rpm.

You better do some research on those pumps. They are sprayer pumps.

You are suggesting they wont do the job? It is good to know, before I get them rebuilt.
My other option is to see if a brush hog will run off my rear remote (12gallons/minute) and still have it on the front of the tractor. That means about 20' of high pressure hose plus the return line.
I don't want to go with shaft driven as I want the hog to not only cut brush, but also trim low hanging branches on 4 acres of pine and tamarack trees.

I had a front mower on my bolens and sure did like it. I got a kubota T1600 2cyl diesel front end hooked to a LGT 125 ford rear end, been wanting to add a front mower to it, just haven't had the time.

Also if you have power steering that well take up 3 to 4 gal,so useable hyds. would be 8 to 9 gpm.

IF I was to take my 20 gallon hydraulic tank and mount it on the 3 point hitch, use a 1." supply line to the bigger of my hydraulic motors connected to the mid mower PTO which is supposed to run at 2,000rpm, run lines from that motor to the front of my loader arms and connect a brush hog to the arms. Put the other (smaller) hydraulic motor on the brush hog and connect it to the shaft of the hog with a flexible coupling, then run the return line all the way back to the tank, tell me why this wouldn't work. This configuration would be totally separate from the tractor hydraulics.
I am not trying to be argumentative here, I am just trying to understand. I have very little experience with hydraulics.
