Kubota B7610
I currently have a Kubota b7610 that I'm thinking about updating for next year. It's used on a commercial residential property to clear snow. The tractor has a front blade and front blower (2750). Also have a rear blade for it. The blower is definitely fantastic for the heavier snow falls but replacing shear pins is an annoyance during a storm. Are there any third party options in the 50-60" front mount range that 1, offer a relief clutch, and 2, would still use the same sure frame mount as the blade? I'm considering a larger b series or L series. No more curtis cabs either, factory from now on. Zaugg looks like a possible option but website isn't very informative. Thanks

as far as i know only a hydraulic blower gets rid of the shear pin hassle. i switched to a hydraulic system and have never had a problem blowing snow for hours on ene without ever stopping. if it does get clogged, it stops blowing. you pull out obstruction, and set off blowing again. theres a pressure bypass valve.

I guess the first thing that comes to mind is where are the shear pins snapping then the next thing is how soft are your shear pins and then are the problematic ones in the in the cross augers or the impeller ?????????

No one makes a 2 stage unit with a slip clutch as it would stall constantly.

Its going to depend on what YOU really want; Reist makes 48" single stage snow thrower for 4,000.00 Canadian than can be front or rear mounted but you would have to buy a front mounting kit for your B7610.

With the Canadian dollar being weak it would be worth the phone call to Elmira, Ontario to ask about the series 1000 for your B7610 as it is has a final drive that is chain driven for these single stage snow throwers

I will tell you that it would be better for your three point hitch mount though as you have more usable torque off the 540 PTO.

A faster way to do this NOW is purchase a motorized Bercomac UTV snow blower for your B7610 and just attach it to the plow with a little welding for the 2 lower mounts on the snow blower and add another mount for a shackle to attach achain to the bercomac to let the plow blade lift it.

I would get a price for the series 1000 blower for your machine with the mounting hardware and also look at the bercomac units as you can buy a larger 2 stage with a big honda V twin-6K+shipping

Then just price the 2 units and decide how much room you have to store the bercomac in the off season.

With NAFTA all you have to do is stop at the border crossing and ask to have the 8% ontario sales tax refunded to you when you show them your receipt and passport for ID.

BUT in saying that the Canadian sales tax will no longer be deductable for a business expense.

You just might need a stronger shear pin in the scheme of things as they come in various hardnesses.

Some folks just take a bolt and partially hacksaw through it I got so fed up with my JD junk 44 inch snow thrower that I just bought bolts and nylock nuts for it. If I have to replace a gearbox on this thing or one auger its almost 700 dollars and for that I can buy a another walk behind single stage Toro.

Every time I lost a drive belt it was $140 and I did not bother mounting it this year but I found a better supplier for V belts for 1/6 the cost anyway. JUNK.

Why they(bercomac) have no interest in building a single stage snow thrower I will never understand.

OH and before I forget it I have a friend that has a brand new 2017 Yamaha YT1028J walk behind snow blower that he has decided to sell. it is brand new and has never been used and its for sale. Its a 28 inch snow chewing monster.
He brought it home this past summer and it has been in storage since then
If you want I can send him your contact information as you both live in CT., He wants to sell it.

Reading on this site leaves me under the impression that a lot of people are shearing off shear pins with their blowers. I wonder why so many shear pins are being sheared off, is it debris going thru the blower or pushing the snowblower into banks too fast.

I used my older tractor with snowblower for 10 years, never lost a shear pin. I have only used my new tractor and blower a couple times but so far I haven't lost a shear pin, time will tell whether I do or not.

Curious minds want to know.

Leon, check out the Zaugg sf55 series. It has a clutch. I know you're a big fan of reist. Their website sucks. It would be nice to see model information and specs

I did not know that they had begun using a compression spring style slip clutch on their snow
blowers. It is apparently the same slip clutch that use on their other farm equipment.
The oil bath slip clutches are in the gearbox on the stub shafts for both cross augers.

The fellow that I chatted with at ZAUGG AMERICA is very nice, we chatted for quite a while about the Zaugg bulldog
and I forwarded some information on Catalytic converters to him for their Kubota power units.
As built they did not meet the tier 4 pollution standards but with the newer catalytic converters they would pass the Tier four standards barely breaking a sweat.

Why are you sheering the pins? Is it from rocks and other things that are too hard for the blower? I assume so. I usually try to use the blade until things freeze and any rocks have been pushed well away from where my blower will go. I'm not sure a slip clutch will be that much better. The bolt for my auger is behind the blower so it's not too hard to replace. But I still need to find the rock that got caught that sheered the bolt. With a slip clutch you'll most likely go further before you realize it's slipping (bad for the clutch discs) and require you to remove more of the snow so it doesn't slip when you try to start it back up. Plus you'll have to maintain the clutch. If the pressure is too weak you'll slip with just snow loading it up. If it's too tight you'll do damage to something else. As the clutches wear from slipping I would think you'll need to adjust the clutch. With a rototiller it's easy to see it's slipping and stop the PTO so they make more sense. It'll be interesting to see how it works out.

I've been blowing snow now for 19 winters and have yet to break a shear pin. Ok, now I'll break all 3 on Wednesday.

Are you sure you have the right ones? As previously mentioned, there a lots of variations. In fact my blower uses two different ones (one for the cross auger and one for the impeller) and they are the physically the same dimensions. One type is gold and the other's silver so you can tell them apart.

back in the day i always broke them at start of season....all the time. they were correct ones. the problem here is gravel roads and pathways.
