Anyone have experience with a grapple for the front of a GC1710 or similar tractor?

Ditto for me. And I'd add that mytractortools.com doesn't have 1 choice. . . They have 4 choices of grapples. 3 sizes widths of horizontal and 1 size of vertical).

I do not and probably will not ever get one b/c I don't think Id use it enough to justify the price.

I thought I would have had amino grapple a year and a half ago, but some circumstances developed to slow my tractor use until more normal expectations later this year.

Contact MyTractorTools. COM and ask if they have some videos of the grapples in action. No, most of them are not on the website, but they have numerous grapple clients. And I bet the company has some videos.

(and don't tell them it should be on the website - they already know the website is quite dated).

At a slightly lower cost, you could add a grapple thumb to your existing bucket.

You are going to have to get creative. Option 1 is to use the power beyond that feeds the backhoe to feed a separate valve purchased locally. Run the hoses from that hoe to open and close the grapple. Option 2 is to run 12 volts to e relay and installed a switch purchased locally to energize a solenoid on a diverter valve (probably can find those at surplus center). The diverter valve is plumbed in line with the bucket cylinder hoses. When the button is pushed it diverts flow from the bucket cylinders to the grapple cylinders when the joystick is moved left and right. When the button is not pushed oil flows to the bucket cylinders as normal. I would recommend going with option 2 even though it is probably more costly but it is a much cleaner design for a small tractor. Additionally, the 2nd option works for any GC model, not just for those set up for use with a backhoe. I suppose there is a 3rd option - you could just install shut off valves on the backhoe boom hoses and Ta 2nd set of lines to the grapple - only issue is you would have to keep reaching behind you to use the backhoe valve lever to open and close the grapple. Send pictures when you are done.

Jeep - yet another option you didn't list is to create a single or dual remote (whether you have a back hoe or not doesn't matter). The problem with the 3rd function valve (your option 2) is that it does not have the sensitivity that a true valve does - something that is a real benefit when using a grapple.
