My 110 is fast approaching 1,000hrs. on the meter. It's never been in the shop for repairs. Many will know that the only complaint I've had about my 110 has been a "chirp" in the steering pump. It still does that... but it's never failed!

Nonetheless, I've noticed a small hyd leak near the front differential "pumpkin". I thought maybe the steering cylinder hoses were rubbed through or maybe the seal on the front differential was beginning to leak. Well, after some investigation - I found the culprit.

It's the seal at the transmission housing where the front driveline stubs out and connects to the front driveshaft. The hyd oil is dripping down into the inside of the plastic shield and coming out onto the rear of the front differential and the steering cylinder.

After looking at the technical manual and JDParts for both the 110 and the 4610 CUT; the repair doesn't appear that difficult. Remove the shield, drive out the split roll pins on the driveline and pull and replace the seal - and maybe the bearing and split ring.

Am I correct? Appreciate any ideas and/or clarifications.

I have a new 110 with 50 hours on it and I noticed a small amount of hydrolic fluid in the same locaton. Not enough to drip on the ground. I am watching it and will check to see if itcoming from the same location as yours. Also have the power steering chirp and tug. I plan to complile a listand take it to the dealer in the spring while its under warranty

Welcome to TBN, wamsutta. The JD110 is a great tractor! As I indicated, the problems I've encountered are pretty minor - but, aggravating!

Very good idea to let your dealer know as soon as possible. Once, you've established a history of the issue - your dealer will be in better position to help you when the repairs are finally needed - and insure that the repair is covered under warranty.

Good luck.
