My best friend has been out of town for a few days , and while he was gone We've had several bad storms. Well I got a call today that a tree had fallen on his new shop and I need to go check on it. Well after I seen the damage I then had to call him and tell him the bad news, That was almost as bad as telling someone that a family member had died. Anyway here are a few pics.

OH MAN!!! That's about as bad as it can get.

Any idea why the tree fell? Did he cut the roots when he built it or ran utilities?

Just a shame.

What a mess. I hope he has insurance. Looks like he use to own a very nice hot rod Mustang. I bet the frame got bent on the Jeep alos. It looks dead axled. I fear that happening to me some day also. My garage is built a bit tougher than his is though. I told the wife we should clear all the trees within striking distance of any building. Not in her lifetime. So far we have been lucky.

Why the tree fell was a combination of things, we have had a ton of rain the last week or so, and a day or two of super strong straight line winds, plus the tree was not in the greatest of health and was to be cut down in the next week or two. Surprisingly the only things damaged inside, was his small mig welder, and the top on the jeep, the car had one small mark were a two by four hit it, the jeep is holding the tree up off the car. The jeep’s roll bar is holding a lot of the weight; the axle is setting on the bump stops. I'm sure it wasn't good on the housing or the frame; just have to see when we get it out. I have a set of new axles at my shop I was setting up new gears in for him anyway due to the old axles were bent allready; were going to put them and a new lift kit on the jeep next week.

He was defintely lucky. It looked like the car had got smashed with all the debris on it. If that was mine and I saw it, I would have cried.

could have been alot worse. i'd say the jeeps repairable. that a stang, or a capri?

either way, not what you'd want to come home to

Looks a lot like root rot caused the tree to fall. Did it look healthy last summer?

When healthy trees fall, lots of roots pull out of the ground while some break off or the tree breaks above ground.

I'd like to know if the wood is decayed where they broke.
