Noticed posts on scoring Free Stuff and thought why not start a thread.

I do have sources that qualify...

Next to work is a Restaurant that always has food grade 5 Gallon pails to toss out... we share a common area for trash.

Over the years... I have provided 5 gallon pails to just about everyone I know...

Also... I deal with the trash at work... can't say how much I have saved topping off the dumpster just before pickup... hate to send them out less than full!

I also get nice 5 gallon pails from work. They come with liquid soap in them for our sterilizers and have a large screw on cap. I remove the labels, rinse them out and take them home. They make great containers for used oil. I use 4 for kerosene for my space heater. I have about 6 empties home right now and give them to other friends who change their own oil.
I also just started getting shipping pallets too. When I get enough I can store my implements on them instead of using 4x4s.

Plus 1 on pallets... if a good one comes in I will put it to the side.

Yes we do. I believe we discussed this on another thread but I do work for a Hospital too. 30 years so far at this one and 7 at a different one before that.
Ocassionally some good stuff gets tossed out. Some of the time it doesn't make it to the dumpster.

My wife is a realtor broker and deals in foreclosures. You would be amazed at what people leave behind when they abandon a house. Once there was a safe that I took home and cut it open to find $1200. Why didn't they take that money to make a house payment?

A buddy and I just got back from picking up a free loaded tractor tire on the rim...about a 13.9-30 with reasonable rubber. He told me that where he works had a major clean up and they had a pile of stuff that "had to go". His supervisor came and got him and he got a couple of brand new hydraulic tierod cylinders...3 1/2" by 8" stroke and a half dozen brand new implement rims with brand new rubber on them. Two were 6 hole with 8 ply 7.50-16 and the other four were 6 ply 7.50-16.

Because they were leaving it for their drug dealer to pick up....
