How about if you mount one of those Laser pointers that they use to blind pilots in airplanes .If you mount it on your tractor and have a marker you should be able to hit the marker with it and drive to the marker keeping the pointer on the marker giving a straight row .I'm not sure how your phone app is supposed to work but even with auto steer you don't get a perfect straight line if you are using a guide bar to give you guidance for your line .

You probably wouldn't be able to see it in the daylight, though.

Costs money though.

My brother in law has a expensive spray rig for more than 6k acres that uses GPS to steer. He only has to turn it around and get it lined up and punch the button and it steers for the length of the field some more than a 1/2 mile long maybe more.

It might help if you had a large enough target that is red. I have a laser level that came with a small magnetic target that is red you can see the laser dot in sunlight.

I just follow the edge of the field for first row then tractor tracks for rest. It is easier to cultivate straight rows.
