Does anyone the factory size bolts for the frame to engine block in a 1310?

Mine are, for the most part, stripped and I'm not really sure what's holding the front end on the tractor.

Has anyone had much luck using helicoils? I'm sure that's my only option at this point.

There's always a better option than Helicoils. Keenserts are stronger and easier to install. Drilling and tapping to a larger size works, too. IIRC the original bolts are 12mm.

Thanks, I'm not familiar with the Keenserts. I need to get some bolts to at least put in the holes for now. Are the bolts about 1 1/4 inch long?

What a Chore that was. I ended up using Helicoil look alikes from Autozone. Finding a 17/32 drill bit proved to be a bit of a challenge... HA HA I ended up splitting the tractor in two to get to the bottom rows.

Any Idea what woud be a good torque setting for these bolts? I know the max for 1/2 inch grades 8's is around 117 ft Lbs. I turned chicken at 60 ft Lbs. I ended up using 1 inch long bolts. 1 1/2 was too long. I'm going to get some 1 1/4 to see if they will work. I'd like to have another 1/4 inch in the threads, then maybe go to 80 ft Lbs.

I had never heard of Keenserts before, but after looking them up on McMaster Carr, I can see they are much stronger than helicoils, as they are thicker and thread in with a standard tap.

I'd go with what rickb said.

keensert over helicoil.. OR drill and tap larger.. OR... drill and tap for a larger pipe plug, then redrill thru plug for oem.

did that alot on an old 950 I refurbed that had tons of broke bolts and studs.

Hopefully what I have will work. I plan to keep a close eye on them for a while. I figure if I inspect them and hit them with the torque wrench every few uses, I'll get an idea if they are backing out.

You need to be careful about how big you drill these out, the casting is not all that thick. I drilled and tapped the ones on my 1510 to 1/2 inch. One of them stripped out and I helicoiled it. When I drilled for the helicoil, I broke through the casting slightly and had to drop the pan to repair. If I had to do it again, I would helicoil to the original 12 mm size.

that's the nice part about drilling for a pipe plug.. you will be drilling oversize anyway.. and if you break thru.. you can seal up with a proper pipe tap and plug.. then drill that plug..
