Saw one of these at a gun shop last weekend and they want $450 for it. Appears to be in great shape but I didn't realize until I did some checking later that the older models are 2 3/4 chamber and the later models were 3". Any issues with these?

I got both an older and newer Savage Stevens 311A 2.75" (1949) & 311H 3" (1956) and both are great guns for the money. The wood is pretty plain and blocky, but I refinished the older one and cut it down to fit me and I shoot it better than of my other shotguns. Not fine balanced doubles by any standard (or expensive), but mine are reliable and shoots where I point them. I like the double triggers and being able to pull the hulls out by hand.

I have a 16 gauge 311. It's a fantastic rabbit gun. I have alot of 12s that I can take. But I always reach for the 16. Carries well, easy on the shoulder and perfect for rabbit.

There's something special about shooting a good side by side.

I think one of the prettiest side by sides is the twenty gauges. The twelves are large and look a bit bulky. I would like to find a nice twenty gauge for a decent price.
