So I have been tearing up craigslist lately and scored a couple decent deals
Traded a guy some dodge lift kit parts for an old JD 25A 8ft flail mower AND an old JD sickle bar mower! Flail needed some love, needed knives and 1 cutter shaft bearing was shot. Tore whole thing apart. Have to do some welding to the underside of the body to repair some rot, but really not too bad. Ordered knives from flail master. However, they wanted $125 ea for the cutter shaft bearings!
Found some nice quality bearings for just over $100 shipped for the pair from locateballbearings.com
Also picked up an old Oliver 241 (I think) 9 ft wheel disc. I haven't actually seen it yet as I'm working out of town so my buddy checked it out and picked it up for me. Needed 2 discs replaced. Snagged it for $1000. So I'll be learning all I can about this old disc soon as I get home
So, I grabbed a gallon of Kubota orange from tractor supply and I'm going to get the flail and disc cleaned up, fixed up, and painted to match my pretty new M7060. Should work well and look good doin it!
So if anyone has any insight or wisdom to share on any of this equipment as I dive head first into these please feel free to share.
