I bought a 3016 back in July old program gave me a heads up on the battery.I cleaned it grease it very well I went to go start it and click I up hood check battery terminals and all green specially the positive side..Took all apart cleaned it battery sure leaks acid all over it to me this is a dangerous issue getting blow al around in engine carpatmen getting on other wires and hoses. Mahindra should Of had a recall on this or supplied a new battery to replace these bad batteries. If it was a car that we spent 20.000 plus dollars we would demand dealer to fix under warrantee . Sorry just ranting because I have to buy a better battery so soon to protect my investment

If the battery is that new it should have some warranty on it. Was this tractor used when you bought it?

I have a 2011 5035HST and have no battery problem. I coated everything with battery terminal spray [ wax ] when she was new. If you want to go the extra distance... get some side terminal cables and buy a good side terminal battery. I have done that with my two John Deeres, and it works great... I will do the same with my Mahindra someday when she needs it.

I had the same issue on mine and I cleaned it all up, gobbed grease on and around the terminal post before replacing the cable. This was a year ago and still no issues. I thought you did the same, Ed.

Maybe you were too neat and cheap with the grease. Be generous with the grease, you have to seal the area where the lead post goes thru the battery top. Lotsa grease will do it.

If I need to do it again, I'll use one or two thicknesses of the 'felt' rings that go around the post, after I slather it/them with grease. I have no problem checking/cleaning it every year or so as part of regular maintenance, but I agree, it shouldn't happen. I'm not going to spend $100+ on a new battery if it still functions fine, and just needs a cleaning annually.

I don't expect any battery to last more than 3 years or so, so I'm 1/2 way thru it's replacement time already.

The dealer said it's a known issue with many batteries supplied by Mahindra.

I did used glob of dietetic grease still corroded my point is that stuff is blowing around under the hood getting on other wires and hoses I'll bite the bullet and get a better battery

that is why I commented on this because it is a know issue I am more concerned about acid spilling over on everything else over protective I guess

As I said, the method I used has worked well. I never had acid anywhere but on the terminal.

Wow, I expect 8-10 years from a battery.
My tractors original battery lasted 11 years. The battery in my pickup is 10 years old and still going strong. (I've owned this pickup for 20 years and I'm still running on the 2nd battery, first battery lasted 10 years)
Our cars original battery lasted 10 years.
My 2007 and 2009 motorcycles are still running original batteries.

I don't think I've ever had a battery last more than 4 years.
