NONE YET BUT LOOKING HARD
I was out to the local farm that I hunt on yesterday to do some scouting and to check my trail cams. When I left I drove by an old farm that is full of old equiptment, I slowed down to take a look and saw an old skid steer.....I MEAN OLD......So I stop and ask the guy that owns the place if it runs and such,he says tha it runs but he hasnt used it since last year and his grandson drove it to where it was last parked. He said that he would sell it for $700.I told him that I would like to here it run just to see if was all there so to speek. He said that he cant work on it in his physical condition so if I want to here it run he would try to get his grandson to get it up and running, but he didnt know if he would have the time with school.I dont know what year it is or what make it is so I have been looking on the net for a site that has some old photos of old skid steers that I might be able to reference it back to,so if anyone knows of a site like this let ,me know.If this old beast fires up and goes is it worth $700 or should I offer him less without seeing it run?

$700 sounds like a 'non-running' price to me.

If it runs, it is worth more than that, IMO.

No pics to look at?

I bought one 10 years ago that didn't run, without a bucket, or rams, and put $3000 into a complete re-build including engine.
I sold it for $4500 and enjoyed the task. All depends on what you get excited about. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Call me naive...but I tend to trust fellas like that.I'm surrounded by them and aspire to be the same.Since he offered to get the Grandson up to start her,I'm betting she runs. For $700 and help here and at MBN...you might end up with a real buy.

I bought a Bobcat 600 that had been sitting outside for 2 years " ran when we parked it " tuned it up squirted penetrating fluid in cylinders oh it was a propane powered and I know nothing about propane. Put a new battery in it , fired right up used it for 2 years put a coat of paint on it sold it for $3500 , So yes if it turns over I would say its worth $700 . Why dont you ask him if you can try and get it running before you buy it ?
