With a log cabin project coming up, I'm thinking I could really use some forks. Because of visibility, I really prefer the QA instead of the clip-ons. However, my FEL has the bucket pinned. Is a QA face plate and bucket reasonable or should I go with clip-ons since I don't currently have QA bucket?

Get a Skid Steer adapter... you are going to find other nice to have attachments, if you buy an adapter you will be able to use a broad selection of things...

Plus with the SS plate your load will be closer to the pins.
SS adapter about $500, weld on plates for your bucket around $100, shop for forks OR watch auctions as you will be able to use anything that attaches to a Skid Steer... KennyV

I was in the same boat, I bought the QA adaptor and a bucket to go with it about 3 weeks ago, and the Construction Attachments Lightweight 42 inch pallet forks are due in friday, from Everything Attachments. It was not cheap for the QA adaptor and the bucket. I kept the pin on bucket, thinking I would cut and weld on it later in my own time, I did not want to be without a bucket while I messed with the original.

I built a cabin last summer, with the help of my new L45. It has QA so I got a set of Alitec 4000 lb forks. In 30 secs. I swap from bucket to forks. Couldnt work better. I moved all kinds of materials w the forks as well as do firewood with them. Im real glad I didnt go w clip ons.

Thanks for all the info. Is the QA plate from the dealer universal/compatible with the SSQA? Are they the same, or is the SSQA different from Kubota's?

They are the same as the SSQA. I just got a set of forks today for a SS and they clipped right on.
Get yourself the SSQA for your loader. Great investment and any attachments you get now will work on your next loader:D

Thanks. I saw the SSQA online for $550, but shipping was $475, so I need to find one much closer!

The slip on forks move the load further forward reducing your lifting capacity as well as making your tractor more tippy.

So as soon as my income tax return comes I'll get the SSQA, a bucket with QA, and a for attachment. I'm looking at the one from Everything Attachments for 675 and the Gearmore SSL QT for 825. Any recommendations?

For the tractor side of the SSQA, try your local Kubota dealer. Some of the factory Kubota units are priced affordably. When I added a SS style QA to my tractor, I added the QA plate to the back of bucket myself...... and bought a light duty set of forks from Bradco. I have said over and over....... changing my loader over to a SSQA was the single best thing I ever did to my tractor. I even welded up a simple attachment for lifting things and moving my trailers around the yard. Next will be a bucket with teeth and a SSQA to three point attachment, so i can use my york rake on the loader.
