Hey Guys,

We've been cleaning the roof of our house this week using a pallet with 3/4 wood on it for a deck, this sure beats getting on a ladder and trying to use a roof rake or walking on the roofs to try and clean them.

We want to build a two person Work Stand this year, something that is maybe 4'-5' wide and 3' tall. My wife came up with an idea to use one of the 250 gallon Liquid fertilizer tank frames that we have sitting on the farm and build it from there.

Do you guys think this basic frame would be a good starting point?? Or would it be strong enough to build on?

Hello
I think it would work great as long as you use a retainer to keep it from sliding off.
It would be a lot better than working off of a rickety pallet.
I think someone here built a man basket but not sure.

I think it's a great idea. I've thought the same thing but have seen somewhere on here that it's not. Someone stated that the "cage" on these type of carriers is not made to handle the side load that is needed for a personnel carrier. Personally, I think if you reenforced it it would work fine.

We'll I went out and looked at it better,

It would work as a work stand like it is but without a lot of work I don't think it will do what I want for two people and for a elevated work stand. I might work one up for a single person stand. Thanks for looking guys.

Where I used to work we had a simular tool for a fork lift
the bottom had slots 2x4 tubing laid flat for the forks to slide into and there was 4 post coming up 6 ft high and cross bracing between them, then the cage like you are thinking of using was on top of the post.
this allowed the cage to go 6 feet higher than the fork lift forks by raising the cage up.we used it all the time hanging items from the ceiling and changing light bulbs.

It had 2 threaded T handles that screwed against the forklift forks threw the 2x4 box and a safety chain around the middle of the unit going back to where the forks attached just incase it slid on the forks the chain would stop it.

I hope this helps
oh and a good driver always helps when your 3 stories up without a net.
