Foreign Object in BX1500 Fuel Tank

My grandchild managed drop a marble into my fuel tank. I can't see it because the tank is full, maybe when empty I can get it out.
Until then, is there a screen or something to keep it from getting somewhere it can do damage. Or could the marble act like a ball valve and stop up a pipe?

My 2012 Yanmar came with some Foreign Objects in the tank. After replacing the fuel solenoid TWICE, somebody at the dealer noticed the fuel filter bowl (plastic) actually caving inward when the tractor quit running ( which it did frequently and they couldn't figure out why....thinking it was an electronic problem ).....they jerked the fuel line off the tank...almost no fuel coming out....stuck a thin screwdriver up in the tank line port, and got flooded with fuel.

Turned out some plastic drill shavings ( from installing the tank port ), and some other FO were rolling around in the tank, and blocking fuel from time to time. As the tech said "Visualize a marble rolling around in the tank........"

Now, that there is funny, considering the prior circumstances.:laughing: Yeah a marble sounds like just the thing to act as a "check valve" some day when you least want or expect it. If this was just some odd shaped plastic fuel spout, I would say leave it in, but the marble? I say pull the tank and get it out..

I think a marble is too big to travel anywhere that it might cause damage but I would think it pretty likely to find its way to the tank outlet and restrict the fuel flow. I would try to find a way to remove it if possible.

It probably won't get in to the fuel line but it will certainly block up the tank outlet to the fuel line. I did it with a piece of a magnolia leaf that I knocked into the tank. I read of a guy that did it with a wasp that flew into his tank while he was filling it. A marble would seem to be perfect fit for blocking the outlet. Nothing for it but to drain the tank and take it off, turn it upside down, retrieve the marble and give it back to your grandson.

I should mention that I tried just about everything to get that darned leaf out of there before I gave up and took the tank out. Good luck. (Can your grandson sit down yet?)

I dropped the fuel spout off of a plastic fuel can into mine once and it didn't really bother anything but it just nagged at me so I just go so aggravated one day and decided to get it out. I considered taking the time to take the fuel tank off, which I decided later would have been the better way, but I didn't.:confused3: If I had it to do over I believe that's the way I'd do it.:thumbsup: Any way just wanted to give you another option.

The plastic spout floated out with the fuel but you may have to shake yours a bit to get the marble to roll out or just flip it on over to upside down. :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

Get one of those long handled dipper screens that people use with their fish tanks, bend the wire around the net so it'll fit into the neck of the tank the tank and go fishin'!

I had some blobs of wax drop out one cold winter and partly blocked the fuel flow out of the tank. I got them out with a mechanics fish tool, one of those grabber things with a push button on the end.
