Can anyone offer me any advice, complaints or recommendations on this tractor?

$3000 w/Box scraper and 18" PTO auger.

This is what the seller said about it: "It has a few leaks from sitting. It has been a very dependable tractor and has functioned well for me over last fifteen years. I have mainly used it for plowing snow, blading the yard, digging holes and mowing. My friend has used it for baling."

What do you think?

I hear they are good on fuel.

Judge it on it's own merits not on a reputation. Parts are available.

Go check it out. Get on it and work it for a while. The box blade alone is probably worth about $500 if it's in decent shape. The PHD maybe $300?? So maybe $2200 for the tractor. Not a bad buy if she has some life left in her.

Parts are available means a lot. Reputations are important, however the individual unit is also important.

PS: Beautiful state

I'm going to look at it tomorrow, I hope.

Looks like it's got good tires on it, or at least one anyway. That's a major expense if you have to buy new ones.

Better save those bucks for a telehandler.

Or maybe a helicopter? Not sure what one has to do with the other.

Okay, I checked it out and bought it. $2500. Nice unit. BTW, someone mentioned the tires. One rear tire still has the numbers in the tread. Even got a manual with it.

Okay, I've had a chance to look through the manual. But it left a huge hole in my knowledge.

On the right rear end of the motor, closer to the driver, there is a lever and a large round metal piece that looks like it has 5-6 v-belt grooves. I'm sure it can be used to power something external like a generator or saw or pump?

Anyone?

I think you made a good deal! I had a Fordson Dexta for about 15 years that had served its useful life as a daily workhorse for an old gentleman that used it to make his living.

The Dexta looked like the Major but with the 3-cylinder Perkins diesel. And every part on it was simply worn out. But the old horse just kept on going and going. I finally gave it to a friend that wanted to restore it. That project is now about 80* complete. So far he has about $7K in the restoration.

You can expect a long life left in the Major. Nice find.

P1010008.jpgPerhaps someone "repurposed" the flat belt pulley PTO.

Full engine horsepower is available there if you have a belt to get it out.

Now we're getting somewhere. It'll be interesting to get to know this new toy/workhorse.

Note the similarities between the Fordson Major E27n and the "New Fordson" that you have.
