I searched back thru the threads some and didn't find an answer. What is anybody currently getting fuel milage wise on their V10? The local dealer has 3 new C/C F-350's with V10's, 5 speed auto's, 4x4, and either 4:10 or 4:88 gears. All are work truck packages with flatbeds.
The tow rating on these is better than the Chevy with the 6.0 and I am not going to get another diesel. My '97 Dodge 2500 4x4 with the cummins has been a great truck, but I don't drive near enough to justify a diesel. I wear out the rest of the truck bouncing around the ranch and on dirt roads. The body and axles wear out long before I wear out an engine.

Well since I have everybody on a roll:rolleyes: . Anybody want to update their mileage report? I've also located 3 low mileage used F350's with the V10 in easy driving distance. Looks like I better get the feedbox off of the old Dodge and clean it up a bit;) .

Anybody care to say what their getting when pulling..say..10,000 to 15,000 lbs. The reason I like a diesel, is because there is less difference in fuel mileage when running empty vs. pulling a heavy trailer. For instance my 2000 GMC 6.0 averaged about 13mpg empty, and when I was pulling my 20' GN trailer with tractor, I got about 7 or 8 mpg's. However my 2005 Ford Powerstroke gets about 15 mpg empty ( if I keep my foot out of it), and about 10 or 11 mpg with trailer and tractor.

So in summary, I am wondering what the V-10's get when pulling heavy loads.
Thanks,
Gavin

I get around 8-9 MPG pulling a 20' 10,000 lb. bobcat trailer.

I guess I am not the only one looking to go back to a gasser. I talked by phone to 5 different dealers, Ford and Chevy, over the last couple of days. Looked at 2 trucks and got told by each dealership that diesel p/u sales are flat. I had 2 Chevy dealers really work hard, 1 on the phone and 1 in person, to get me to look at leftover new 07 Duramax's. Current pricing on them is 10 grand off of sticker.
1 think I really didn't like about the chevy trucks, there is no space behind the seat in the cab. I generally keep tools, vet supplies and a calving kit(in season) behind the seat.
