Ford 1200 / Super Dexta x 2
Need some advice here about paint colours.

We have Ford Empire Blue and Ford tractor Blue

The Empire Blue is correct for our 1962 Super Dexta with Orange wheels

The Ford Tractor Blue seems to be for the 1950's British Fordson tractors and is much darker.

Te paint we need for our 1964 New Super Dexta is somewhere in between the two and I dont know what it is called.

I know that Ford in the states used grey in the fifties whereas we brits had dark blue.

Sometime in the late sixties I think, Ford decided to combine the two and go for a grey blue colour scheme and this is when they changed from Empire Blue .

Any one know the correct colour for a seventies Ford tractor please.

I guess no one knows what the piant colour is then.

How about a paint code for seventies Ford tractors :)

Received some blue paint in post (mail) today but it is the old Fordson Major blue of the fifties.

Looks like the Land Rover and trailers are going to be blue then:D

'Ford Tractor Blue' was first used for the 1000-series tractors.

According to this: The Fordson Tractor Pages Forum • View topic - Blue paint question ,
Dexta's colour changed from 'Empire blue' to something called 'NP Blue' in 1963, so you should use 'NP Blue' for your 1964.

Some info about colours: Seite/page 11

Thank you very much for the information.

Our '64 Super Dexta should be the new blue then, I thought it should be different to the early ones as I drove one for a while in 64/65 and thought it was different.:)

Sorry, you have a Super Dexta not a Dexta. No matter, they changed colours at the same time. Nice tractors indeed, in any colour.

My slow brain just figured out that 'NP Blue' probably stands for 'New Performance Blue'. I suppose it is the same as 'Corporate Blue'.

Thanks..

we have a 1962 Super dexta which is blue and orange and also a 1964 New Performance Dexta which is blue and gray.

Both painted in the same blue at the moment and that is what is causing the doubts, I'll try and get hold of some NP blue or at least see if the code is the same as Corporate blue.

Its only a tractor but....got to get it right if we are going to sit by it at the shows pretending we know what we are doing.:)

Hope you find the right colour and please post back about the progress. The colours for the grilles seems tricky. No one seems to have a straight answer to that.

Found that our '64 NP Super Dexta should be in the Corporate blue but not sure yet if Corporate blue is the same colour as the new ford tractor blue used on the later thousand series of Fords

Waiting to compare some at the dealers who dont have a clue:)

Its fordson blue And do me a very big favor Dont do like alot of other people have done and made a mess of the tractor by painting all the other bits white so so wrong The wheels and the grills, head lights, wings plus seat are all in a mushroom colour There are to many people out there making this mistake dont be one of them Good luck with the build :)
