I started a thread a while back seeking info on Ford One Armed Loaders. That thread is now 7 pages long and is mostly a couple of us going back and forth. It is way too long and boring for most. I had some unanswered questions so finally broke down and bought an assembly manual and a parts book. The parts book was an original which was cool, but not helpful. The Assembly Manual was a copy, but it had all the information I'd been searching for, and then some. Here is a PDF copy of the assembly manual. I couldn't find a free one on-line so now there is one. If you want to read about the trials and tribulations of getting these mounted on your tractor, read my other posts, or the many others on this and other websites of guys trying to figure out if the loader will fit on their tractor. The short answer is "yes" but you better make sure you have the correct brackets. The assembly manual helps in that regard. It shows most.

While the Assembly Manual covers all the models, I believe, my only interest was the Ford 3cyl 2000. The instructions for that tractor, using Mounting Kit No. 19-382, shows the Kit with all its parts, except for one. In the instructions, it tells you to use "Shim Part No. 292294" under the radius arm bracket. It doesn't show it, doesn't tell you how big it is, or anything else. It doesn't even tell why its needed, but it has to be so the radius rod doesn't hit the hip bracket when you are bouncing around on the loader.

I was able to find, on Messicks site I think, that Part No. 292294 had been replaced by Part No. 313024, which is still available. It shows a shim that is .106 (another site shows it as .125) which is right at an 1/8" so there must have been just a wee bit of a clearance issue. This shim is used for some other purposes as well. It shows up as 41A on most diagrams of the front end.

If you do a little looking you'll see this thin shim was used on a bunch of tractors and needed for several loader kits. Probably some manufacturing snafu that was easier to fix with a 1/8" shim than redoing all the castings. Here's an application list I copied and it lists a couple loader kits but also the whole 19-711 loader series:

313024 SHIM,.106" Thick New.Holland 3100, 532, 4600SU, 531, 1881, NAA, NAB, 4000 - SERIES, 4131, 541, 4110, 4140, 711-SERIES, 4410, 1871, 335, 19-381, 19-382, 3400, 19-386, 601, 2000 - SERIES, 1811, 2031, 1821, 230A, 2110TR, 1841, 2310

Here are some photos. I had a bit of a problem getting it on the tractor, didn't think it was going to fit. The hole in the front bracket, which I made, probably should have been 1 3/4 instead of 11/2 so that it would have had more room to angle into place. I had to lift the front loader with a floor jack after getting the hip bracket mounted and then that raised the front piece and by loosening the front bracket bolts I was able to get it together. I just could not get the front bracket done first. More floor jacks or some little dollies from Harbor Freight. Here's some photos showing the progression.
